MY FOUNDATION / OPERATIONS, SCALE, SECURITY
I learned the systems.
Then took ownership.
Support, global systems, and healthcare security shaped how I work. Those experiences prepared me to build an internal technology function at Commit.
CHAPTER 04 / LEAD THE AI MANDATE
Manager, IT Operations & Systems
The Commit Partnership · Dallas, TX (Hybrid) · Sept 2025–Present
As the first internal IT hire, I established centralized technology ownership for 85 users across 18 departments. My scope spans enterprise technology strategy, IT budgeting, vendor management, governance, and the organization-wide AI program.
- Administer ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude and Microsoft Copilot, including governance, licensing, access, training and responsible adoption.
- Completed the ChatGPT Enterprise renewal at over 50% lower annual cost with the same license and benefits; secured nonprofit Claude pricing for approximately $15,000 in annual savings compared with the previous ChatGPT Enterprise cost.
- Drafted and rolled out the AI use policy; lead the AI Learning and Enablement series.
- Lead cross-functional AI projects that turn dashboards and prototypes into connected resources for leadership.
- Lead current identity, SSO, and MFA workstreams, alongside ongoing security awareness and phishing training.
- Direct IT contractor priorities and assignments, mentor technical project talent, and lead hiring for the next internal IT role.
Director, Enterprise Technology & AI Governance
Building the next stage of the internal IT function through hiring, technical resource leadership, and responsible AI adoption.
FUNCTION BUILDING / THE COMMIT PARTNERSHIP
First internal IT hire.
Now building what comes next.
Inherited
Distributed technology responsibilities across external partners and internal teams.
Built
Visibility into 130+ applications, centralized ownership, governance, and a technology roadmap.
Expanded
Enterprise systems, security, Microsoft 365, technology cost strategy, and an organization-wide AI program.
Leading next
Directed technical capacity, talent development, and hiring the next permanent internal IT team member.
Building the team behind the function
My work has expanded from doing the work myself to designing the structure, roles, priorities, and support model that allow technology work to scale.
- Direct capacity: prioritize and assign IT contractor work; coordinate internal staff, consultants, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
- Develop talent: supervised an eight-week Summer Fellow project with 1:1 mentoring, coaching, milestone reviews, and capstone support.
- Build the team: lead hiring for the next IT role and define responsibilities, future team structure, and delegation.
Technology is an organizational decision function.
I set technical priorities, develop platform and investment recommendations, assess cost and risk, and bring leadership a clear implementation path. My scope includes IT budgeting, vendor strategy, governance, systems planning, and AI adoption.

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION / ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS
The foundations
that make transformation possible.
Those decisions became work across identity, security, service delivery, and technology investment. Each project shows my role and its current status.

LEADERSHIP IN PRACTICE / FIVE CASE STUDIES
The situation. The decision.
The difference it made.
From building the IT function to governing AI, these five examples connect my actions to outcomes and leadership responsibility.
What I’m building next: AI readiness Roadmap
I’m developing an organizational readiness framework to help leadership understand platform adoption, security posture, governance alignment, and enablement needs. Its purpose is to guide support and investment, not employee performance monitoring.

The work connects to outcomes: lower AI costs, clearer technology ownership, and developed technical talent. Earlier career results show the foundation behind it.
MEET PJ / BEYOND THE JOB TITLE
The same curiosity.
At work
and beyond.
I’m PJ Piatt, an enterprise technology leader originally from Illinois. I’ve called the Dallas–Fort Worth area home for the past 15 years.
My work brings together systems, governance, security, and people. At The Commit Partnership, I became the first internal IT hire and began building a technology function from the ground up. Today, I lead enterprise technology and responsible AI while helping shape the team that will carry the work forward.
AI is also a hobby. My interest continues outside the workday: I enjoy exploring what these tools can do and thinking about where they might be useful. That personal curiosity sits alongside the practical questions I bring to work—who does this help, how should it be used, and what would make it dependable?
